    Fruit and Veggie Donations?

Does anyone know of any specific donation spots / food banks for fresh fruit and veggies? Our orange tree is overflowing and our garden is about to spout more tomatoes that we can possibly deal with on our own. I know a bunch of my friends have super productive fruit trees as well. Thanks!

We'd gladly help take some tomatoes off your hands. We have plenty of our own oranges though.

Have you checked with Second Harvest food bank? They have a facility near curtner/87. Also, you might try InnVision (they run a homeless shelter - ask for Katherine Webb Calhoon?) or Sacred Heart (Peter Pabst - ppabst@shnativity.org)

My wife Holly sends notes out to some Willow Glen e-list and gets rid of excess fruit (mostly plums) by the bucketful. The best part is every once in a while a little old lady knocks on our door with a jar of homemade jam. : )

Another thought... Last year Holly helped organize a very successful neighborhood produce exchange in the Rose Garden. She was going to do one here in Willow Glen but apparently we're in some sort of quarantine so when the city got wind of it they said nay nay. So if one were to organize such an exchange in such a way that the city didn't find out, and probably in such a way that the responsible parties were somewhat anonymous, you'd be rockin' the house.
