Is Zanotto's Coming To Willow Glen?
They're sure making an effort. There's been some discussion about what will happen to the PW space over on Foxworthy. Zanotto's has been trying for the past four years to find a space in Willow Glen. With the Bird/Minnesota space tied up by Fresh and Easy (which may never open), Troy Tibbils, co-owner of Zanotto's Downtown Market, has set his sights on the Foxworthy location. From an email that Troy sent to the eList:
"I’ve been watching all the emails about Willow Glen’s long standing dilemma to get an outstanding grocery store...We are actively pursuing the PW location at Cherry.
"We have been negotiating a lease with the landlord at the Cherry site for the past four months and believe we have reached an agreement with them. We have also been pursuing financing over that same period. In these economic times that is proving a difficult task, but we’re pretty persistent and optimistic.
"The key point is that we are interested in Willow Glen. We want to be in Willow Glen. We are working to get into Willow Glen. I’m pretty sure that’s a lot more than any other grocery store. In fact, we’ve been in contact with contractors, suppliers, equipment agents and many others to move as far forward as we can as quickly as possible.
"Obviously, I can’t make any promises, except I won’t give up easily. I appreciate everyone’s support in the past and look forward to sending you an email in the near future indicating we’re moving in."
Good luck, Troy. I hope things work out. I think that Zanotto's would be a great addition to Willow Glen. I do wish that the Bird/Minnesota location had worked out so they could be closer to the center of town, but the Foxworthy location brings a high quality market to Willow Glen. Something I think we all can get behind.
What are your thoughts?

I hope that the Fresh and Easy experience will help in future contract negotiations for the Willow Glen neighborhood including on Lincoln Ave.. There should be penalties at the very least if not termination of the contract based on how long they have to open their establishment / use the space. I am still glad to have a great market move in closer to home.
