Welcome to Neighborsville!
Hi Neighbors! What you're seeing here is a pretty early version of what we hope will become a platform for neighborhoods across the country to share and discuss the things that are most important to them. Naturally, Willow Glen is the first neighborhood we're opening up to. Sign up by clicking that big orange Join button up top. Thanks for being one of the first to join us!
Neighborsville is centered around the activity stream on the Neighborhood Home Page. It shows what people in the neighborhood are talking about now. You can comment on anyone's Note or create your own. The comments are attached to the original post so it's a lot easier to keep track of than an email thread. You can also search the posts using the search box in the top right.
To kick things off, a few local businesses have donated some prizes for folks who create a profile (including a picture and a name--it's good for neighbors to know who each other are) and then add a Note to the neighborhood activity stream. You'll have a chance to win one of these prizes:
2 $25 Starbucks Gift Certificates from Holly Barr of Intero Real Estate (http://www.hollybarr.com/)
2 Free SeniorNet computer classes from John McCullough at Willows SeniorNet Learning Center (http://www.snlcsj.org/Willows)
$25 gift certificate from Cindy at It's a Girl Thing (http://www.itsagirlthinginc.com/)
$25 gift certificate at BabyBuzz from Karen Poznansky (http://www.babybuzzcafe.com/)
You can invite your neighbors to join us by sending them a link to this page. We're working on an easier way to do this soon. You can also post a link on Facebook, tweet about it, email a local mailing list, or write a blog post if you've got a blog. We'd love your help spreading the word.
From here out, we'll be regularly adding new features to Neighborsville such as letting you connect your Neighborsville account to Facebook and Twitter; creating new types of posts such as events, classifieds, and business recommendations; creating groups within your neighborhood; special features for small businesses; and neighborhood newsletters. We'll be adding these features over time and fixing bugs as we find them.
In the meantime, we want to know what you think. You can use the Feedback button on the right to share ideas or report bugs to us. Or you can email me directly at ryan@neighborsville.com. Your feedback is important as we work to build a site that really meets the needs of our neighborhood.

Cool idea, I especially like the idea of integration with twitter - it'd keep me up to date without have to check another site! Tommy on Lovoi

Congrats on the relaunch. I hope you'll add a "how to make the most of neighborsville" section once things get up and running. Good luck with neighborsville 2.0!
